How can I gain a testimony of the scriptures?

I love the scriptures! I have studied them faithfully for the entire time I have been active in the church, and I know they are true! I have prayed regarding the truths found in them, and have had that confirmation of peace and knowledge over and over again. 

 

President Russell M. Nelson shares some of his thoughts on this subject.

• As you ponder and pray about doctrinal principles, the Holy Ghost will speak to your mind and your heart.

• When you read the Book of Mormon, concentrate on the main figure in the book—from its first chapter to the last—the Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God.

• In your journey through life, you meet many obstacles and make some mistakes. Scriptural guidance helps you to recognize error and make the necessary correction.

• We savor the scriptures by studying them in a spirit of delightful discovery and faithful obedience.

• The Book of Mormon can help with personal problems in a very real way. Do you want to get rid of a bad habit? Do you want to improve relationships in your family? Do you want to increase your spiritual capacity? Read the Book of Mormon!

• Each individual who prayerfully studies the Book of Mormon can receive a testimony of its divinity.
